Andrew - FAE, Europe - Cambridge
‘’I started working for the company in 2012 as a Marketing Engineer. At the beginning of 2013, I was successful in my application for a position in the Sales Department as a Field Application Engineer for Europe.
The Company is very flexible in terms of progression and development. Training is available to everyone upon request and approval.
Working here, you will have the opportunity to engage with large consumer electronics brands, and actually see products that you develop ‘on the shelf’. Each day will be different, packed with a variety of things to do.
People in the organisation are very friendly, and easy to approach. They are willing to help and open to suggestions. I think the Company has a good mix of engineering and customer facing contacts.’’
Suzanne - Executive Assistant - London
‘The role of Executive Assistant is challenging but you do get to see a lot of what is happening in the business and you get to work across a wide range of different exciting projects.
As a Company, we are a medium sized organisation - not too formal and without the hierarchy of other larger organisations. People are very friendly and hard-working, with positive attitudes.
As a working parent, the Company has accommodated my request for flexible working hours and enabled me to have a good work-life balance.
It is undeniably a very challenging organisation, where you can expect to meet people across all cultures, and build relationships, throughout all levels of the organisation. Frontier has a global presence and it’s really interesting dealing with different people every day. Good communication at all levels and between different departments certainly makes my work more productive and enjoyable.’’
Jonathan - Senior Test Engineer - Cambridge
‘’I started off as a contractor with the Company and was then offered a permanent position as a Senior Test Engineer, which I have been doing since 2012.
I enjoy working for the Company, as there is a really good atmosphere, and generally it is a nice place to work.
I am actively encouraged by my manager with regards to training and development. I think this is very motivating, and I would say one of the top benefits that the Company offers. As a test team, we are quite unique as we need to co-operate with almost all other departments, which is challenging at times but also very rewarding.’’
Gavin - Senior Manager - Sales & Support - Hong Kong
‘’I am based in the Frontier Silicon office in Hong Kong. I was employed as Senior FAE engineer, and was promoted to Program Manager in 2009. Following that, I was promoted again to FAE Manager and finally to my current position as Senior Manager in the Sales and Support department. As you can see, there are a lot of options for progression, and this also gives you a ‘taste’ of the various departments within the Company.
The Company is not a big corporate entity but an organisation that supports and values its staff. I think that if you make the effort and work hard, you will definitely get recognised here. The Company also has good systems in place, and provides on-the-job training. External training is also available to all employees.
Every day is different and we encourage employees to aim for higher roles and constantly develop. One of the main benefits is the friendly atmosphere and nice people.’’
Horea- Software Architect - Timisoara, Romania
‘’I am one of the longest serving employees in the Company’s software centre in Romania. Frontier is a leader in wireless technology and internet radio. If you are ready to take on new and challenging projects this is definitely the right place for you. We are working on complex projects, and the technology and applications are quite new for the engineers here which makes it more interesting. The technology that we are working on is exciting and innovative and as the consumer electronic environment is constantly changing, projects are measured in short-term scales, mainly with deadlines between 6mths- 1 year. This means that everyone gets a chance to work on various modules and fields. Our engineering environment is open for change and new ideas so my work is definitely innovative and dynamic.’’
