Frontier drives latest in-car media receiver range

Frontier Kino 4 is the world leading DAB+ receiver solution, powering over 20 million DAB+ receivers. Frontier has created software specifically aimed at automotive solutions, the AutoDAB software development kit (SDK), which allows the Kino 4 chip to run in slave mode and offer advanced automotive features such as intelligent DAB to DAB service following, DAB to FM service linking recommendations, service linking enhancements for automotive operation, DL+ support, station logos for now playing screen, station logos for menu, slideshow support, direct support for DAB seek.

Sony has released two new after-market head units, which are powered by the Frontier Kino 4 chip running AutoDAB 3.1 SDK. The Sony products allows users to upgrade their in-car audio system to include DAB+ in a sleek, Android Auto touchscreen unit.

Sony has launched two new products, the XAV-AX8150 and XAV-AX5650 with a 8.95 and 6.95 inch display:

DAB+ is a key component of digital infotainment, providing a wide range of broadcast audio and metadata, including now playing logos. Besides an increasing range of DAB+ enabled in-car products, Sony are also the market leaders in home audio DAB+ products, which are all powered by Frontier’s chips and modules.

Frontier are the leaders in DAB+ solutions, allowing brands like Sony to create reliable, high quality and world winning products. As DAB+ becomes more widespread and countries move to a digital switch over (DSO), adding DAB+ to automotive after-market will become increasingly important. For example, Switzerland has recently committed to turning off FM in 2024. Frontier are working with leading brands to create a range of aftermarket auto solutions.
